I am still a bit surprised by the reviews very negative. I am also a big fan of the original series. The adaptation remains modern and extremely efficient. For me this has been and will still be pure bliss to review. Of course, it is a free adaptation and a summary of about 1h30 on very many episodes. Visually and graphically superb my only regret, and it is not output in 3D just like "Captain Harlock" (Albator). If we leave in the vision of the film, in seeking comparisons with the original series, of course it can't be that disappointed. For me the finds, both the style and the choice of characters, the looks, the new "Pop", the sanctuary is different... This is a tribute for the forty-year career of Masami Kuruzawa, a test very ambitious and successful. Of course I regret that a few key moments that I particularly like are not included... but it is forgotten all the work story. This movie should have been doing, and nobody can contradict its aesthetic qualities, except blindness or bad faith. A success! Spirited away is without doubt one of the best films of Hayao Miyazaki and, by a happy chance, one of those who is most known in the west. This prestige edition comes in a wooden box lacquered in the most beautiful effect containing, among others, two DVDS : one with the film, and one with the bonuses (that didn't exist in other editions). Where the shoe pinches is that, despite the THX certification, the image of the film was reduced about 8% during the mastering of this DVD unlike what is done in the industry and without any reason. Result : despite an original master flawless, the image of the DVD is smaller and more fuzzy as in the previous editions and the funny thing is that if you look at this DVD on a PC or Mac with a beautiful screen very expensive or on a tv 16/9, or even on a video-projector, the image will be surrounded by a black frame due to the resizing and all the details of the image will be gone. If you have only one tv in 4: 3 not very large, this can not hinder you, otherwise avoid this edition. Beautiful animated. However, it is more intended for an adult public as a child. Some awkwardness in the translation (am japanese) but the record remains in the coherent whole. A force to be reckoned with. The history, the beauty of the characters, scenery etc... The master KUROSAWA in what is, for me, far and away his best film. Everything is in the slow and the choreography (if if : this is THE choreography). No offense to some, fighting with swords that take hours as we can see in modern movies are unrealistic. Anyway, as you remember, I'm a huge fan of this genre of film (RAN, HARAKIRI...), even if it does not prevent me to enjoy recent movies : I'm open-minded, even if I look at them differently, with a different approach.. Wong Kar Wai is launched in a film that seems to food. It rpofite all the same, to offer beautiful images. The fights are well orchestrated and full of power. The actors are beautiful even if a bit static. A cross tasty between the movie aesthetic and the genre film. For the Blu-Ray, the grainy style is not always what makes it all the better in HD, but for scenes that have been shot without effect, the sets and costumes make it very well. The music and the sound effects are rather discreet and do not require, therefore, not necessarily a high-quality sound. The 3D scene is purely incidental (and not very successful).Craftsman 40 In. Reception fast. In perfect condition. Super! As for the content, love it. I watched this film just after IP Man, with Donnie Yen. I would, perhaps, not had to. I found this Grandmaster a little soft. Visually it is too beautiful, but I was expecting a little more action scenes for a film retracing a part of the life of the master of Bruce Lee. I do not doubt that it may appeal to many viewers. But I don't party. It is too good to find Sakura after so many years!!! The box is superb, and the episodes at the top! That happinesshistory disconcerting when we had the chance to see albator 78 and 84, but otherwise, visually it takes a slap in the face it is so beautiful, I recommend it to all who like the image.. I moderately enjoyed this French edition of my Miyazaki favorite Blu ray. Let me explain: first of all, the packaging is really cheap. A simple box and a standard disc with a silk-screen printing to the limits of the acceptable. And finally the master of us used to the image, with its inlays vile on the screen.
